Good evening panda friends! Thank you for coming to our family open house on last Wednesday! Here are some other highlights of the last week learning! 1. We are ready for the library! Students had a fun time listening to the story and also learned rules for the library. Thank you Ms. Kelly and Ms. Starla for helping in library! 2. In science this week, we did several experiments about balancing. We tried to balance arch and triangle shape using counterweights: We also did a pencil challenge: balancing the pencil on its point by using a piece of wire and counterweights. 3. In math, the 2nd graders keep working on measurement. We practiced how to use centimeter ruler to measure daily objects and learned several benchmarks. 4. On Friday school assembly, we had our first stage performance! Also on Friday, we drew some pictures for the upcoming grandparents day: Reminders for next week:
1. We will celebrate Grandparents Day on September 9, with a special breakfast at 8:00 AM. Grandparents will be able to walk with their grandchild to the classroom and share juice and donuts during our regular breakfast time. 2. On Tuesday and Wednesday, panda students will be testing NWEA reading and math. 3. The school healthy snacks will starts from Sep. 10 and it is every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We are requesting that you do NOT bring in any other snack on Tuesdays - Thursdays. Please let me know if your child is unable to eat anything on this menu. If this case, bringing in a special snack just for that day would be acceptable. Feel free to pack snacks on Monday/Friday. 4. Math learning schedule for the upcoming week: second grade: Module 2 Lesson 6 (Monday), Lesson 7 (Tuesday), Testing (Wednesday), Lesson 8 (Thursday), and Lesson 9 (Friday) third grade: Module 1 Lesson 14 (Monday), Lesson 15 (Tuesday), Testing (Wednesday), Lesson 16 (Thursday), and Lesson 17 (Friday) If the student is out of school for any reason, please follow the schedule and finished Problem Set and Homework at home so that when student comes back, he/she can catch up.
