Good evening panda friends! Hope you all had a restful Labor Day weekend! Here are some wonderful learning moments in the past week: 1. In third grade math centers, they reviewed the concepts of rows/columns by playing matching number sentence and array! 2. At the same time, the second graders started a new unit: measuring! The first lesson is to use centimeter cubes to measure the daily items. 3. In this week's science, we kept doing experiments of balancing crayfish! Though the experiment, we learn that the crayfish with counterweights are easier to balance! 4. Big shout out to Messiah for being a caring classmate! He is so nice to new students and helps them all the time! Reminders for next week: 1. No school on Monday (Sep. 2) - Labor Day 2. Family night open house on Wednesday (Sep. 4) from 4:00-6:00 pm. Parents will meet in the cafeteria at 4:00 for an informational session and classroom visits will occur between 4:30 and 6:00 PM. Teachers will be preparing their rooms from 4:00 to 4:30 PM. Also, be sure to visit our Scholastic Book Fair at Open House. Pandas will visit next Tuesday (Sep. 10 8:30-9:00 am) and it will also be open at dismissal. 3. This Friday, pandas will perform in school assembly! The song we are going to perform is called 上学歌 (Going to school), please practice at home if you have some time! 4. This year we will have snack break in the morning around 11am. Feel free to pack a light snack as needed. It will be also great if you can donate some snacks to the class to share, like fruit snack, crackers, goldfish, etc.
The school healthy snacks will starts from Sep. 10 and it is every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The monthly snack menu will be coming out early next week. We are requesting that you do NOT bring in any other snack on Tuesdays - Thursdays. Please let me know if your child is unable to eat anything on this menu. If this case, bringing in a special snack just for that day would be acceptable. 5. Math learning schedule for the upcoming week: second grade: Module 2 Lesson 2 (Tuesday), Lesson 3 (Wednesday), Lesson 4 (Thursday), and Lesson 5 (Friday) third grade: Module 1 mid-module assessment (Tuesday), Lesson 11 (Wednesday), Lesson 12 (Thursday), and Lesson 13 (Friday) If the student is out of school for any reason, please follow the schedule and finished Problem Set and Homework at home so that when student comes back, he/she can catch up.
